| Abstract: | The author comments on certain questions which have been studied or can be studied more fruitfully. The central question open to inquiry is social differentiation and the relationships between those groups which have been differentiated. Social differentiation is very closely linked to economic development. In this domain the A, focusses on three key questions: rural entrepreneurship, the emergence of a working class, and the peasantry. Some other problems are: the traditional political institutions under colonial rule, revolt and resistance, the study of law, and the urban history. Notes, many ref. |
