Abstract:The Wawungu are the most important and numerous tribe in Chunyu District. At the 1957 census their total numbers were 19.105. History has been written by Mwene Ilonga in 1951 and was translated from the Swahili by F.G. Finch. The story tells how the Wawungu came to rule their country and how that rule has gone on and lasted to the present day. Photographs, maps.
