Abstract: | There are several problems to loose before Sierra Leone achieves independence in April 1961. Efforts are being made to effect a union of the Colony and Protectorate. This is the supreme objective of Sir Milton, Margai, the Prime Minister in the present government. Sir Milton has the support of most of the Parmount Chiefs and tribal autnorities. His opposition, the Settlers Descendants of Sierra Leone, however, are all the more resolved in their quest for a separate legislature. Their aim is the dissolution of the Margai government, which also is the prime objective of the Election Bofore Independence Movement led by Siaka Stevenes. Within political stability, Sierra Leone's economic future would be more than reassuring; because it is by no means poor in resources. Several economic activities show that foreign capital has confidence in Sierra Leone's future. Illustrated; Map. |
