Abstract: | The author, District Commissioner, examines the effects of the migration on Kalabo society and economy as it was in 1959, and attempts to predict the trend of coming changes. The paper is based on investigations during the two years the author was stationed there. The results of the investigations are discussed under chapter heads adopted froa Schapera's 'Migrant Labour and Tribal Life'. The figures quoted are taken from Government tax census figures and from 698 questionnaires, each of thirty-eight questions, which were completed in respect of individual recruits and repatriates interviewed.
