Abstract:In this study on the modern co-operative movement in Nigeria, major focus is on secondary organisations (Unions) and primary organisations (Societies). Specifically highlighted are the processes and problems of capital accumulation and the management of operations in Co-operative societies in two areas of Western State. After an historical introduction follow the sections: Data and scope of the study - Some characteristics of the societies and the co-operators - Capital: sources and structure - Management of co-operative resources and activities - Summary and conclusions.
