Abstract:The objective of this paper is to present the method for determining valid and rational projections which could serve as the base for a beef cattle development program. In addition, the projections and alternative strategies that could stimulate domestic beef production to levels consistent with a national self-sufficiency target based on protein acceptable requirements are set forth. The long-run projections (twenty years) are determined by integrating population, growth of national income, consumption, changes in production techniques, and nutritional requirements. Notes, tab.
