| Abstract: | Tentative observation on the possibility of Benue-Congo loans in Chadic languages. Cases studied are the words for: two, to know, elephant, to divide, ten, tortoise. The author hopes to show that in Chadic and especially in West Chadic languages there is the possibil ity of loans from (and possibly into) Benue-Congo languages, some of considerable antiquity.
