Abstract:The Fante sacred Lyric or ebibindwom, as these songs are called, are traditional songs and have evolved out of certain old musical types which are still performed by some Fante traditional musical groups. As a traditional musical form the lyric is significant as an indigenous mode of expression which has been adapted by the early Methodist missionaries for use during Christian worship though churches are not the only users of the lyric. The growth of the lyric, its traditional background and its geographical location are also described. Notes.
