Abstract: | In 1967 the government of Tanzania initiated a national program for socio-economic and cultural transformation of her rural population. The first phase of the program involved resettling about 86% of the population, about eleven million people, into newly planned villages. The present research project aims to study the impact of resettlement policy on residence patterns in selected village communities The village chosen for study is Nakarara, Masasi district, southeastern Tanzania.
