Abstract:Rhodesia has never had a comprehensive population policy, and its present population problems can be understood only in the light of many ad hoc policy decisions and assumptions which have been and continue to be of major importance in determining the structure of the population and population trends. An historical perspective therefore is a prerequisite for an understanding of present problems and an evaluation of possible policies for the future. There is an urgent need for Rhodesia's population problems to be recognised by all concerned, black and white, as national problems. Fig., notes, tab.
