Abstract:Describes an approach to population mapping which turns over to a computer most of the work of both drawing the map and performing the calculation of the values mapped: Procedure - Mapping programme - Flexibility of the system - Standardizing - Additional uses-Conclusion: the data handling methods described here are particularly suited for displaying information about areas where statistics are known to be of dubious accuracy. They can display what information is available, help to make clear the ways and the areas in which the statistics are deficient, make use of additional information that comes to hand in piecemeal form, and save a considerable amount of computational and cartographical labour.
