| Abstract: | Reference is made to Kuczynski's detailed study in the 1940's of the information existing about the African population of East Africa in his Demographic Survey of the British Colonial Empire. Consideration of the sources handled by Kuczynski is not likely to provide any particular grounds for disagreeing with his conclusions. With the results of tow relatively reliable post was censuses (1948: Kenya, Tanganyika? Uganda, Zanzibar, and 1957 - Tanganyika, 1958 - Zanzibar, 1959 - Uganda, 1962 - Kenya) the position is reasses by the author of this article. |
