Abstract:Training small farmers in agricultural techniques in an institution surrounded by well structured villages has proved to be more rewarding than any such training carried out purely in an urban centre. This paper examines an institution of this nature, the Rural Training Centre in Mfonta, North West Province of Cameroon. It provides a model of such training. In addition to its training programme, it follows up its graduates at their various farm levels, and so obtains information through a feed back system. It is through such objective evaluation that further innovations and projects, both in the area and elsewhere, can be elaborated and diffused with success among small farmers.
