Abstract: | Notes, complied in 1939 after 4 years' service in the Masai District of Tanganyika. The introduction and the conclusion of the present publication date from 1948. The material has a bias on the political side of the social organization. The study comprises the following sections: 1. History (with Chronological chart and genealogy of the Laibon family) - 2. The Laibon (functions; attitude to him and his work; Character of Laibonok and their adaptations to modern conditions; place in tribal government) - 3.
