| Abstract: | The stability of marriage is on of the most striking features of a rural Luo community, yet discussions of marital problems are endemic. The case studies cited in this article show that the stability in Luo marriage is effected by a number of factors: in cases of separation the woman has to leave children and a woman has no right to land except through marriage.
