Abstract:Conclusion: A few of the problem areas facting a newly developing library service have been exposed here. These, of course, cannot be solved overnight. Regular reasessment is necessary if the Library Service is to: 1) Reinforce the foundations that have been laid; 2) Keep pace with national development; 3) Realign the service, where necessary, to the actual needs of the population it serves; and 4) Map out the direction for future developments in response to the community it serves.
