| Abstract: | The effectiveness of qualified teachers is often taken for granted. Continuous evaluation of the educational system (and this includes the effectiveness of its teachers) is necessary for the improvement of the system. Yet a systematised evaluation of teaching effectiveness has never been undertaken at the secondary school level. One purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of qualified high school teachers (academic or professional certificate holders that have been approved by the Ministry of Education as appropriate) in the East Central State of Nigeria. Another purpose of the study is to compare the effectiveness of the various types of qualified teachers in the high school. App., tab. |
