Abstract:The assumption is that at the present stage of economic and social development is some developing countries an attempt to explain the vocational behaviour of students will yield greater dividends if effort is concentrated more on ecological rather than socio-economic factors such as class differences. The differential rate of economic and social development between urban and rural areas in most of these countries appears significant enough to reflect on the level of vocational aspirations of students brought up in schools situated in these two areas. The aim of this study is therefore to investigate the effect attending school in urban and rural areas has on vocational aspiration of students in these schools. Subjects were 317 students drawn from two secondary schools in the urban town of Enugu (capital of the East Central State) and three secondary schools in rural areas in Owerri Division.
