| Abstract: | A small proportion of the savannas of the central rainlands - which present one of the largest reserves of cultivable land in the world - has already been brought into cultivation mainly through the use of tractor drawn wide level discs. The results so far have not been up to expectations. This paper briefly outlines the short history of these developments and discusses both possible reasons for failure and strategies or remedial action. Notes, tab. |
