Abstract:	Comments on Harris' study 'Labour emigration among the Moçambique Thonga: cultural and political factors' (Africa, 29(1959), p. 50-66). The data of this study seem incomplete and the inference therefrom not altogether correct. With regard to the understanding of the social process of extreme complexity, chosen by Harris, more research on its correlations and implications should be undertaken and it should be observed in a broader perspective of geographical, historical, ecological, cultural, political and economic peculiarities of this whole region of Africa.
