Abstract: | As far as the present author is aware, no writer has been able to set out in considerable and coherent detail the often-mentioned pan-African activities of the West African Students' Union. The present article has a twofold aim: to fill in some gaps in what is already known about the organisation, and to re-examine its contribution to ghe growth of the Pan-African Movement partly on the basis of the Union's official records and partly on the evidence furnished by the quarter century beginning in 1925 when the organisation was most active.
