Abstract: | A new found tremendous wealth in natural resources and - revolutionary change in the political system makes Libya a rather unique object: of study of spatial transformation. The unlimited supply of capital resources coupled with the governmente commitment to national development created a flurry of massive developments projects. Setions: 1) Population and urbanisation patterns (urbanization trends - development disparities - the system of settlements); 2) Spatial development prospects (present development cores - location of new growth centres - development of small urban centres).
