Abstract:This paper examines the process of modernization in Nigeria; the areal differentiation caused by the varying impact of modernizing forces on its state area, the evolution of these areal differences, their contemporary pattern and their general relevance to regional planning in the country. Also examined process of modernization. Attempted is to present in a broad context: the concept of modernization, the process involved in Nigeria's political development and integration, and the spatial impress of various agents of modernization.
