Abstract:The contribution of government savings to the finance of government development expenditures is rather small because of the relatively low current revenue growth. This article examines tax revenues, which largely compose the current revenues. A detailed analysis of changes in the three major sources of taxes, the income taxes, the import duties, and the excise taxes, gives more insight into the variation of tax revenues. It is thought to be necessary to increase the rates of import taxation, to broaden the base of excise taxation, and to reform substantially the system of individual income taxation. Notes, ref.
