Abstract: | Text of a narrative by the Egba priest William Moore, who describes a case of slave raiding which was brought before the chiefs and elders of the town of Oshiele, near Abeokuta, Nigeria, on August 6, 1851. The account, which was found in the Church Missionary Society archives, contains information on the raiders' recourse to Ifa divination during their kidnapping expedition. Notes, ref. |
