| Abstract: | During fieldwork in 1970 and 1973 the author collected a number of Oromo poems and songs popular in Western Wallaga during the period 1886-1927 from three separate informants aged between 70 and 90 years old at the time of interviewing. The poems and songs recount the experiences of the Oromo under their own leaders as well as under the Amhara governors in the empire-state of Ethiopia. Notes, ref. |
