Abstract:Deals with a study of types of after-school activities, chosen by secondary school leavers from 1965-1968. Presents data of the proportion of school leavers going on for further education, following training programmes in the sectors teaching, agriculture, medicine, and secretariat, or taking a job. As to employment three interrelated questions are put forward: 1. Who are the major employers of secondary school leavers, 2. What kind of jobs are given to them, 3. Where are these jobs available? Main conclusion is that the labour market becomes more and more selective in terms of the key subjects mathematics, science, and technical subjects, as well as in terms of EACE performance.
