Abstract:Cultural change is not only a continuous process but is also influenced by internal and external forces. Thus not only were aspect of Baganda culture continuously changing before the introduction of Islam, but Islam also accelerated these changes and in mamy cases made a profound impact on the Baganda religion before the 1840s - the coming of Islam to Buganda - the Ganda social fabric, its evolution and the impact of Islam on it - the beginning of the breakdown of the Baganda as a social unit.
