About person: | Frantz Fanon (1925-1961) |
Abstract: | Frantz Fanon's thought was so catholic and the realm of ideas with which he dealt was so encyclopaedic that a number of wide-ranging journals, from the most conservative to the most radical, all seem to pay some attention to him. Articles of Fanon appear in the most unlikely places. This poses a problem for the beginning student on Fanon, since there is no central place to look for the writings on him. Moreover, apart from the work of Barbara Abrash, 'Frantz Fanon' (African Library Journal, Vol. 11, No. 3, Autumn', 1971, p. 9-12), there is no reference work to which the beginner can turn for sources on Fanon. It is to meet this need that this work is attempted. The discussion of the bibliographical sources for the study of Frantz Fanon is conducted under three major headings: 1) biography, 2) social and political ideas, 3) the influence and significance of Fanon.
