Abstract:Aim is not to present an exhaustive survey of children's literature about Africa, but to present a general overview of types of books. The titles discussed have been examined by the author of this article. The generalizations about types of books are based on additional titles listed by publishers and in reviews. The bibliography includes books published since 1965 which were consulted in the preparation of this essay. In an earlier article 'Children's Literature about Africa' (Afr. St. Bull., 8 (1965) 3) an assessment of children's literature about Black Africans - exclusive of school texts, fact books, and wildlife stories - may be found. Ref., notes.
