Abstract:In 1972 the Government of Zambia established the one-party state. It was logical that, having legally established a single party state, the next step would be to attribute to the only party a paramount status and to secure to it supreme powers over and above those of other institutions. The Constitution Amendment Act No. 22 of 1975 sought to achieve this objective. Notes.
