Abstract:Briefly summarizes data collected over four months of fieldwork in mid-1968. The retail data have been extracted from a larger body of raw information collected as a part of a study on settlement in Ankole. Little, if any, literature that purports to characterize retailing in a local area of East Africa exists in the geographic literature.
