Abstract: | The author, using also data from other recent studies, shows that kinship factors do not play an important role in business failure. Although kinsmen and friends do request assistance from market sellers, in return they may be requested to assist the trading firm: kinsmen provide capital to aspiring entrepreneurs and friends teach the necessary skills. The conclusion is that these reciprocal obligations are in balance. Ref., notes, tables, summary. |
