| Abstract: | During this period the government has followed a conscious growth-oriented strategy, with impressive results. The authors first analyze growth and structural change, laying particular emphasis on the rate, pattern and sources of growth in the agrarian economy. They then attempt to estimate the distributional effects of growth and the extent to which the various socio-economic groups have benefitted from it. This is followed by a brief discussion of the impact of government policies and they conclude with an over-all assessment of the experience of rural development. Notes, tab. |
