Abstract: | In this article the author examines Fanon's view on violence and liberation (in relation to Fanon's Algerian experiences), raises some preliminary questions about the role Fanon assigned to the lumpenproletariaat, peasants, workers and the national bourgeoisie, points some of Fanon's contributions to the historiography of African politics and makes some preliminary observations regarding the conception of man and society that underlie his political philosophy.
