| Abstract: | The author is the president of the Arab Fund for Social and Economic Development. He describes three historically tried approaches to regional cooperation: trade liberalization and payments facilitation; substantive co-operation embracing large numbers of regional bodies in the implementation of joint projects; and joint financing. He argues that it is a matter of both good economics and common sense, that it is in the interest of the Arab countries to co-operate and to establish close complementarity among their economies. |
