Abstract: | The paper puts on the scale of history the recommendations of the Ashby Commission (officially the Commission on Post-School Certificate and Higher Education in Nigeria) and weighs the importance of the Commission in the light of educational developments in Nigeria since September I960 when the Commission submitted its report to the Government. The work of the Commission constituted a major milestone in Nigeria's educational history and the educational developments since independence have been hinged on the Commission's proposals.
