Abstract:Education related to the environment takes on the aspect of a kind of 'cultural revolution' designed to restore to education 'an ethical function it has sometimes lost 'with the ultimate aim of safeguarding humanity as a species at peace with itself in an environment improved for the use of present and future generations. This paper on environmental education in general and in Africa comprises four sections: definitions embracing both natural resources and the environment; environmental problems in the African context; solutions in view; and actions taken.
