Abstract: | The Aga Khan set up Provincial Education Councils for Ismailis in East Africa. The East African Muslim Welfare Association saw to cooperation between Ismailis and other Muslims. The government established the Uganda Muslim Education Association with an educational adviser. A new training college was opened in 1954 under a principal from the Sudan with a new 'Muslim chaplain'. Muslim schools have started, like Baganda schools, to use English for the primary leaving examination. |
