| Abstract: | This paper addresses itself to the role education (originally mission sponsored) has played in the political evelopment of Nigeria, particularly in the nationalist struggle leading to independence. Focus has been limited to the southern regions since western education did not until recently reach the North to any significant degree. The functional approach is utilized, isolating some manageable variables from the broad category of education and relating them to aspects of political development. The analysis is three faceted: I. Focus on the institution of education; II. Focus on the educators III. Focus on the educated. Notes; French summary p. 78-80. |
