Abstract: | The present study demonstrates the influence of ecological factors and of man as an active agent in deciding and altering the ecological equations, within a regional framework. The Bukoba District can be sub-divided physiograpnically into: 1. The coastal ridges, 2. high Karagwe. 3. The lower Kagera basin, and 4. the central depression. It is the purpose of this paper to discuss the changing evaluations that: man has put oh these regions at various stages in his own development.
