Abstract:This paper attempts to answer three main questions: Are there any differences in the fertility behaviour of different religious groups among the university of Lagos Junior and intermediate staff? If so, does the pattern of differences conform with the traditional model? If not, what are the probable factors explaining the deviation from the model? For the present purpose catholic, protestant and moslem are selected as the three main religions in Nigeria. Part 1 of the study deals with the data and methods used to obtain them; part 2 with the socio-economic characteristics of the survey; part 3 with fertility attitudes and family size; part 4 with the discussion of the findings.
