Abstract:The Kayra Sultanate occupied with is now the western most province of Sudan. The kayra dynasty was established in the first half of the 17th century. The impetus to change from tribal chiefdom to sultanate came from long distance caravan trade; the agent an arab who intermarried with the chiefly family. Notes.
