Abstract:This article examines child-rearing from birth to seven yaers of age by surveying cultural practices of various kinds, including food taboos. It compares the traditional way of rearing children with present practices. What has been described, are past practices, quite different in many ways from the present time when many mothers attend ante-natal and child welfare clinics.
