Abstract: | The author begins by giving briefly the general background of Suku society, its culturally defined social units, the way conflicts between them are conceptualized, and the formally approved or 'normal' methods of their settlement. Next, he turns to the methods resorted to when the 'normal' ones fail or are deliberately discarded. Finally, he examines the consequences of these methods for the social structure as a whole.
