Abstract: | As a result of Western influence an embryonic class system is developing. However no feelings of social superiority and inferiority have as yet developed. There are several thousand educated native individuals i.e. persons with a post primary education, and a so called literate group who know at least some English. The standard of living and the occupations of these differ from that of the mass. Many of the new types of organizations (social club, dancing compin) differ from the traditional associations, being not based on kinship; brings together persons of different tribes located in an urban area; the social clubs tend to set standards of social behavior approximating to those of the European community. |
