Abstract:Some of the questions that could closely concern the educational system of Zimbabwe Rhodesia are discussed. In doing so, the author reviews key facets of the Tanzanian system which is seen to be poorly suited to Rhodesian local requirements. In its place, the author recommends the adoption of a new and largely unique educational strategy based upon the ideal of non-racial meritocracy. This strategy, implanted into the confluence of several distinctively different cultural traditions, could produce object lessons of importance for education in Southern Africa and beyond. Notes.
