| Abstract: | The Igbo are said to be very receptive to change and it is likely that their society has been undergoing a more rapid pace of transformation in modern times than those of other major ethnic groups in Nigeria. About the forces which are chiefly associated with the dynamics of Igbo society little is known. Some of the problems which have militated against an understanding of the dynamics of Igbo society are methodological. After briefly discussing the problems of methodological approach to cultural change amongst the Igbo, the author examines four dimensions of cultural change in Ngwaland: the time-dimension, the external and internal forces of transformation (the external and internal dimensions respectively) and the emerging changes within the internal environment.
