Abstract:An analysis of Xhosa world-view in terms of the universals as outlined by W. Kearney in 'World view' (Novato, 1984), viewed from the perspective of clanship. The data have been collected during fieldwork, undertaken from 1974 to 1978 among the Ntinde and the Qhayi, two Xhosa chiefdoms situated in the Zwelitsha district of Ciskei.
