Abstract: | This article aims at throwing some light on the function, and hence importance, of African philosophy, on an evaluation of its role in social reconstruction, that is to say, in unfolding the world of the African and his presence in the universe. In conclusion, the author emphasizes that like all dynamic philosophies, African philosophy has both a negative, critical thrust and a positive, constructive dimension. On the one hand, it is a philosophy of protest against the 'untruth' of the African, and on the other it is essentially one of liberating reconstruction. - Notes. |
